Rubber for the biotechnology industry

TRP Polymer Solutions offers a variety of elastomer materials that are suitable for developing seals that are destined for use in the biotechnology industry. Within our biotech repertoire, we generally utilise Fluoroelastomer (FKM), PTFE and Perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) to develop high-performance seals that are capable of meeting the niche demands of the industry.

Our unique TRPlast 641, TRPlast 642 and TRPlast 643 USP class VI grades of FFKM are fully FDA compliant to article 21 CFR 177.2400 and are specifically designed to be used in the most hygienic industries. PTFE offers excellent hygienic qualities and can be chemically and steam cleaned without breaking down. FKM offers excellent levels of resistance to chemicals, gas and liquid permeation, weatherability and ozone, where optimum chemical and temperature resistance is required FFKM is the material of choice.

Biotech industry uses

Diaphragm seals are commonly used in biotech applications. They are used to protect pressure measuring instruments from aggressive, adhesive, corrosive, highly viscous, environmentally hazardous or toxic media. A diaphragm made from one of our high-performance materials provides the separation from the medium to be measured. Even the most arduous measuring requirements can be met by combining measuring instruments with TRP diaphragm seals.
