Renewable Biofuels & E-fuels
Using renewable biofuels and e-fuels is anticipated to be a key aspect of the world moving towards a more environmentally-friendly society by replacing fossil fuels that significantly harm the environment.
TRP produces custom rubber moulded solutions for a variety of green energy applications.
With the target of reaching net zero by 2050, the use of green energy and renewable energy is essential to phasing out the use of fossil fuels. TRP are committed to renewable energy sealing solutions that allow our customers to reduce their dependence upon carbon-based fuels. These custom rubber seals and custom rubber mouldings are used across a number of sectors:
The use of biofuels and e-fuels are anticipated to be a key part of an energy strategy aimed at replacing fossil fuels and moving to greener sources of energy to create a net-zero planet. We have developed sealing materials suitable for use with biofuels and synthetic fuels.
Specifically, TRP materials have evidenced excellent compatibility with petrol, bioethanol and petrol-bioethanol mixtures with many years of proven service history. We can help your business to become more sustainable.

We can produce geothermal plant seals for the main types of plants, specifically dry steam, flash steam and binary cycle plants. To withstand the very high operating temperatures and pressures, our AED rubber FFKM grades are highly suitable. For instance, our TRPlast® 230AED and TRPlast® 300AED materials are capable of withstanding temperatures in excess of 300°C.
At TRP Polymer, we can manufacture large wind turbine seals, over 3m in diameter, for use as pitch seals and turbine-bearing seals. We can also manufacture rotary seals and anti-vibration mounts.
You can read in further details about the benefits of our sealing solutions for wind turbines on our blog. You can also take a look at our energy sector case study to find out about our expertise within the area.
As part of our renewable energy sealing solutions, we have manufactured electrolyser gaskets for the chlorine and hypochlorite (chloro-alkali electrolyser) industry for over 30 years.
Specifically, we specialise in applying a thin PTFE veneer to rubber, typically an EPDM capable of dependable performance at temperatures over 150°C, which has many years of successful commercial use. The EPDM we use, E286, has excellent chemical and high-temperature resistance.

At TRP, we’re committed to operating as sustainably as possible and are continually finding new ways to do so. For instance, we have developed an EPDM, E353, derived from sugar cane as opposed to fossil fuels. This provides a large reduction in carbon footprint of up to 1.01kg of carbon dioxide produced per kilogram of compound compared to standard polymer grades.
This new polymer has almost identical physical properties to standard EPDMs, meaning it can be an easy replacement. Read our blog on how TRP aims to move to more sustainable materials to find out more.
