5 Reasons Why FFKM is Used Within Harsh Environments
FFKM, or perfluoroelastomers, are a group of elastomers that are used across a wide range of industries.
For food and pharmaceutical applications, we offer highly resilient sealing solutions.
TRP Polymer Solutions understands the critical nature of specifying suitable components and materials for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
We have developed a range of specialist FFKM materials that have been formulated specifically for the rigorous demands that food-safe O-rings and pharmaceutical seals need to withstand. We can produce O-rings as per your requirements, including metal detectable O-rings to detect and prevent polymers from contaminating your production line.
For pharmaceutical applications, our TRPlast® 643 USP Class VI FFKM is often the preferred material.
Our FFKM materials with USP Class VI approval are designed for use with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), aggressive cleaning agents, steam-in-place (SIP) procedures and clean-in-place (CIP) procedures that create an aggressive environment for sealing. They are also suitable for use with bioactive cultures for applications in bioscience and cell research.
Our production processes support all volumes of food-grade O-ring production, ranging from single O-rings to high-volume orders, using consignment stock and Kanban deliveries if required.
TRPlast® 641 is a white 75 IRHD FFKM rubber. This perfluoroelastomer has been developed by TRP Polymer Solutions for use in food and pharmaceutical industries. This material has a maximum recommended operating temperature of +260°C (+500°C)
TRPlast® 641 is independently tested to the following standards:
TRPlast® 642 is a black 75 IRHD FFKM rubber. This FFKM formulation has been developed for use in the food industry. This material has a maximum recommended operating temperature of +260°C (+500°C).
TRPlast® 642 is independently tested to the following standards:
A white FFKM developed for food and pharmaceutical industries, TRPlast® 643 – USP Class VI provides high chemical resistance to cleaning fluids, foods, bioactive chemicals, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
This material provides excellent physical properties and chemical resistance with service temperatures of -17°C (+1°F) to +260°C (+500°F) and is therefore highly suitable for producing industrial hygiene O-rings.
All our FFKM materials are BSE/TSE free and do not use any animal-derived ingredients (ADIs).
TRPlast® 643 is tested to and complies with the following standards:
This material is independently tested to the following standards:
Our food-grade O-rings have the following useful features:
The materials we offer for hygienic O-rings are tested to FDA standards for full compliance.
Our hygienic FFKM O-rings are capable of resisting up to +260°C, ideal for SIP and CIP systems.
These materials can resist prolonged exposure to active pharmaceutical ingredients.
